Statement of Chiropractic
Chiropractic is the science and art which utilizes the inherent recuperative powers of the body and the relationships between musculoskeletal structure and functions of the body, in the restoration and maintenance of health.
The practices and procedures commonly used by Doctors of Chiropractic are based on the doctor’s training received in a four year postgraduate program through an accredited Chiropractic College, as well as further postgraduate courses following the Doctor of Chiropractic Degree and professional certification programs, and the successful completion of national and state boards and licensing exams.
These include, but are not limited to, the use of accepted procedures in diagnoses and treatment. Emphasis is placed upon correcting disorders of the articulations and adjacent tissues of the body, particularly the spinal column, and the relief of related nerve disorders.
Chiropractic treatment methods are determined by the scope of practice authorized by state law. The services of the Chiropractic physician in the state of Texas are those of primary care physician who uses conservative management without surgery or drugs and whose aim is to find and remove the causes in the treatment of a wide variety of disorders.
Within the healing arts, the chiropractic profession has assumed leadership in supporting postgraduate education programs as a prerequisite to annual license renewal.
The most characteristic aspect of chiropractic care is the correction of maligned or fixated spinal or pelvic segments which interfere with normal nerve function and health.
The modern Doctor of Chiropractic works both directly and indirectly with the nerves, because every function of the entire body is under the control of the nervous system. Since every organ, tissue and cell is mediated by nerve impulses traveling from the brain to every part of the body, the nervous system is the “master system” which controls all other systems of the entire body, including glandular, reproductive, digestive, eliminative, respiratory and circulatory systems.
The purpose of the chiropractic adjustment is to normalize abnormal relationships of the structures and relieve the associated nerve, muscle, vascular, glandular and organ disturbances.
The practice will emphasize a natural, holistic, preventative approach to family health care. Proper structure and function can optimize the potential in any adult or child.
The philosophical concept of holistic health care embraces a view of the whole person, which reflects the interdependence of the body parts to each other, to the person, and to the environment. Holistic health care is an ongoing state of wellness which emphasizes personal responsibility and fosters a cooperative effort among all those involved, leading toward optimal attunements of body, mind and spirit.
The scope of my practice will include nervous system dysfunction, spinal orthopedics, low back pain, neck pain, personal injury, workers compensation, headaches, neuromuscular difficulties, glandular dysfunctions, athletic injuries, pediatrics, nutritional counseling and assessment.
